Neighborhood Night at Afterword Tavern

Wednesday, September 23rd, 6-8pm

3105 Gillham Rd

Guest Speaker: Trish Berrong

Active HNPA membership required.

The next Neighborhood Night will be at Afterword Tavern’s new location at 3105 Gillham from 6-8pm (speaker at 7:30pm). Members can enjoy one free drink and hear from neighbor, Trish Berrong.

Trish worked for Hallmark for 30 years as a marketer/strategist, but is also a very experienced improv performer. Trish has performed and taught with improv comedy groups in Kansas City (and beyond) since the ‘90s. She also uses improv to help companies and groups be more open-hearted, generous, present, and playful, which leads to stronger teamwork. Trish has lived in the Hyde Park area for more than 20 years. In her talk, she'll cover the importance of play as a tactic for building resilience in life.

This event is FREE, but RSVP is required which includes one drink. Since a very limited number of seats are available, we will be requiring an active 2026 HPNA membership to attend and each attendee will need to RSVP separately.

Don’t forget to RENEW your membership for 2026 if you haven’t already done so!

In the late 1970’s, young couples began moving back into the neighborhood. The Hyde Park Yacht Club was born as an informal social group with an ironic name. Every month or so, a neighbor would host a party and invite other urban pioneers. At these gatherings, neighbors frequently shared their home restoration trials and tribulations as well as the challenges dealing with crime in an unrestored neighborhood.

50 years later, the HPNA Social Committee is proud to renew this old community tradition and all residents of Hyde Park are invited to attend!
